I want to find one face that ain’t looking through me

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes
Carl Jung
The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself, everything that you want you already are
Rumi

I offer face-to-face and online person centred counselling and have a firm experiential belief in the use of sand trays and timelines.
I recognise that reaching out to counselling is a huge step, that we can inwardly feel it is time but still not understand how it will work or what we will say. I am grounded and calm so this will be at your pace. I want to hear and see your story so please contact me for a free, no obligation zoom meeting to see whether we are a good fit for each other.
As an integrative counsellor I am able to draw on different areas of therapy tailored individually for you. I am guided by your story and what you need.
The therapeutic relationship is one that I hold in the highest possible regard so together we will build that trust, enabling us to hold your story and work towards your goals.
I believe in connection, true connection and the transformative power that it can bring. We all need to be truly seen for who we are; and I know, when we really consider the true meaning of that, how rare it can be.
Past trauma can cause anxiety, shame and guilt which can be crippling, causing us to misread situations and misinterpret people. This can lead to us doubting ourselves, our place in the world and our relations with others.
I believe that we have the key to our whole selves but we can become lost, disconnected from what we really need - disconnected from ourselves even. The therapeutic connection can help us re-join those threads, enabling ourselves to manage and counter overwhelm, overthinking and anxiety.
I have a particular interest in a sense of self, in a sense of us returning to our whole selves, recognising the compromises we all make on the way.
I have a particular affinity for a humanistic approach with a somatic gestalt recognition of the here and now - an understanding of all the influences and experiences that make us who we are while focusing on how that is affecting us now.
We are formed by our experiences and the experiences of those we are formed by so I believe an underpinning of Attachment Theory provides a grounding from where we can find a secure base from which to work.
I am also very open to Jungian ideas of the self and the spiritual dimension of our lives if that is something you would like to explore together.
An integrative training enables me to offer counselling tailored to you within the framework of modalities and theories that sit with who I am - my counselling approach is tailored to you from the grounding of who I am.
